Increasing National Oil Production
Prima Energy starts the drilling of CW-1 & CW-2 wells in Camar Field

Jakarta – October 2024. Cooperation Contractor (KKKS) PT. Prima Energi Bawean (PEB) has begun the drilling of two development wells; namely CW (Camar West) - 1 & CW (Camar West) - 2 in Camar Field, Bawean Working Area, Offshore East Java.
PEB, as the operator that manages 100% of the Camar Field in the Bawean Working Area (WK), obtained a cost recovery production-sharing contract (PSC) through the Direct Offer Tender Oil and Gas mechanism. This PSC became effective on 15 December 2022, under which PEB is committed to restart and increase oil production at the Camar Field.
After successfully reactivating the Camar CPP (Central Processing Platform) in February 2024, PEB set about increasing oil production and fulfilling the firm work commitment of at least one development well. To achieve this, PEB will carry out MPA (Monopod Platform A) reactivation activities; drill two MPA development wells named ‘CW-1 and CW-2’; and lay a pipeline from MPA to CPP. This step is part of PEB's commitment to increase national oil production.
Drilling began on 23 October 2024 and is expected to last for 65 days. The drilling location is in 64 meters of water. The CW-1 well will be deviated to the west and is projected to reach a total measured depth of 1,986 meters (6,516 feet); while the CW-2 well will be deviated to the north and is estimated to reach a total measured depth of 1,547 meters (5,076 feet). The primary target of these 2 wells is the Masalembo Sand Formation, with the secondary target being the Kujung II Lower Limestone Formation.
In its drilling operations, PEB will use the ENSCO 106 jack-up rig. To improve time and cost efficiency, both wells will be batch drilled because they use closely-spaced well slots within the single MPA caisson.
By reactivating the MPA Platform, old wells such as CM-6 can be restarted in order to add to the oil production from CW-1 and CW-2. It is expected that the additional production from the MPA Platform will reach 2,200 BOPD, and add reserves of 1.6 MMstb. The additional production from this field is expected to contribute to national energy security.
PEB's strategy for the Bawean working area is firstly to extend the life of the Camar Field through drilling and work-overs, and secondly to undertake exploration activities in the Tuban area.
Meanwhile, Prima Energy CEO, Pieters Utomo, emphasized that PEB will continue to work to increase production at the Camar Field. "We would like to thank SKKMigas for their consistent support, and help with collaboration with other operators such as BP and PHE OSES, as well as to all the service companies involved. We hope that this drilling activity can run smoothly, effectively, and efficiently, while still prioritising work safety and environmental protection." Pieters said.

ABOUT CAMAR OIL FIELD AND BAWEAN WK
Production at Camar Field in the first Bawean PSC began in 1991 by producing oil and gas from 6 wells in the Kujung II Lower Limestone Formation. In 1992 peak production of almost 10,000 bopd was reached, with gas being used for fuel or gas lift. The field was operated intermittently until the first Bawean PSC was terminated in 2021. In 2023, Prima Energy was awarded a new Bawean PSC along with a commitment to restart the Camar Field.
